Why is the work needed?

Severn Trent is investing around £25 million to help prevent sewer flooding and river pollution across the Gloucestershire town.

What will the works involve?

We will overhaul the waste network by replacing approximately three kilometres of bigger waste pipes to create more capacity during heavy rainfall. Work is due to begin in March 2022, in Nelson Street, Middle Street and Acre Street. Our main site will be located off the A419 and construction will also begin here in March 2022. The location of our teams will vary throughout the duration of the project until work is completed in November 2023.

Interesting Facts

  • Existing pipes were originally installed in 1960s
  • The existing trunk sewer is around 30 inches in diameter and is made from concrete. We will be replacing it with new concrete pipes which are three times the size.

Will my water be affected?

No, your waters supply won’t be affected during our works. However, should you experience any water supply issues please call our 0800 783 4444 number.

What are the benefits?

Once complete the work will reduce the risk of sewer flooding and river pollution across the Gloucestershire town.
